KIRSTIN HANDLEY
As a baby, my Mother would put me in my pram and wheel me out into our garden, weather permitting, for a sleep beneath the trees. I believe this is where my connection with trees began.
As a sensitive soul, walking in nature is a balm for the soul and a reset from the modern world. I get joy from watching the light filtering through the leaves, the ever-changing sounds, and the scents around me. My favourite of all is the fragrance of linden blossom, which I seek out every year.
I feel fortunate to live in Wivenhoe, surrounded by open skies, the River Colne and woodland trails. They stir an emotional response, allowing creativity to rise and flow onto the canvas as I paint intuitively what I see and feel. This place has a rare kind of energy - to arrive here feels like a destination, not a place to pass through.
